Greetings to all visitors of  Baguio City Travel Blog!!!

I am currently a student of the University of the Philippines Baguio but technically I'm not really a local of Baguio City. The first time I went to Baguio City was just way back in 2006 (I was in sophomore high then) to attend the YMCA National Assemby of High School Students. It was approximately a 4-day conference of high school students from Luzon, Visayas, and even Mindanao that is held every year at the Teachers Camp in Baguio City. As I remember, the conference was on the first week of December so it was really cold by that time plus it was also raining. From then on, I was always joining that conference until senior high.

On August 2, 2008, I took the Universtity of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT). When I passed my application prior to that, my 1st choice of campus was UP Diliman and my 2nd choice was UP Manila (UP Baguio was not in my plans). Then the results came out on the first quarter of 2009 and I didn't passed it. But I found out that it's not yet the end of my UP dream..... a letter was sent to our school for all those who took the UPCAT and of course one of those is for me. Inside the letter was the "Non-qualifiers Slip" which stated that technically my score in the UPCAT didn't qualify me to my campus choices but it was also said that I can try other UP campuses as long as there are available slots for the course that I want and I should meet their cut-off grade!

One of my friends who was going to study in UP Baguio helped me in coordinating with the Office of the University Registrar of UP Baguio. I e-mailed and called them and I passed all the pertinent information and documents that are needed. At first my parents doesn't agreed with my plan of studying at UP Baguio, but I told them that I will just study there for one year and I will then transfer to UP Diliman since it's quite easier. And so they agree and I studied at UP Baguio!!!

It was quite hard since I was alone. I was the one who cooked my food, woked up by myself, and in short I was independent. But it was also fun and exciting. I learned many things and as days passed by, I fell in love with Baguio City more and more. Baguio City is the place to be! It's not just about the cool climate and pine trees. It is a melting pot of different people and it is the centere of trade, tourism, and education in the Northern Philippines.

And now I decided that I will no longer transfer to UP Diliman. I will stay in Baguio City until I finish my studies or maybe I can live here for good!
